Medicube Kojic Acid Turmeric Pad
£24.90
Glycolic acid takes third place on this pad, ahead of the glycerin, which is high enough to flatten a rough cheek rather than politely smooth it. Kojic acid, turmeric, vitamin C and B12 put the light back into a tired tone at the same time. No perfume and no alcohol on the list, so the sweep does not sting.
Description
You run a hand down the cheek and it rasps. Foundation grabs on the same two patches every morning, and the face has taken on a flatness that a long night of sleep no longer fixes.
Soaked pads sitting in a 160 ml jar, taking the place of your toner on the evenings you reach for them, one face textured and one face flat.
- Raised grain flattened: glycolic acid holds third place, ahead of both the glycerin and the niacinamide. It is the smallest of the exfoliating molecules, it drops in quickly, and it unhooks the dead cells that make a surface feel like paper. The cheek goes smooth under the palm after a handful of passes.
- Light handed back to a tired face: kojic acid, turmeric root, ascorbic acid and cyanocobalamin split the work on evenness between them. B12 is a rare thing to find this high in a pad, and it is part of why the tone lifts rather than just the texture.
- Fruit at the end of the list: chestnut shell, yuzu peel and strawberry fruit close the composition, in the slot where antioxidants usually go.
- Comfort held through an acid: panthenol, allantoin, adenosine, liquorice root and seven forms of hyaluronic acid follow the exfoliants down the list. Nothing comes out dry, and the skin stays soft to the touch straight after the sweep.
There is no Parfum and no alcohol anywhere on this list, which is unusual for a glycolic pad and is what makes a weekday evening version of it workable.
Recommended for combination and oily skin, grain you can feel with a fingertip, visible pores on the cheeks, and tone gone flat over a long winter.
How to use
Step 4 · Toner
in the evening, on a clean face, with the textured side out first.
- Sweep the forehead, the cheeks and the chin, keeping the hand light.
- Turn the pad over and finish the nose and the sides of the nose with the flat face.
- Go around the eye area rather than across it.
- Let it dry for half a minute, then put your serum on.
Two or three evenings a week is the rhythm, and the sweep itself takes fifteen seconds. Lift the pads out with tweezers: wet fingers carry water back into the jar and the essence turns. The jar is sold in the UK as 70 pads while the base carries only the 160 ml, so count on the pads rather than on the volume when you compare. Running this on the same night as the Kojic Acid Turmeric Resurfacing Toner doubles the glycolic acid for no gain, so pick one of the two and let it work.
